High thickness and high precision | Chuangkeda 18mm K9 glass cylinder laser cutting case

In the fields of optical manufacturing, precision instruments, and high-end structural applications, K9 glass is widely used in optical windows, lens substrates, optical supports, and high-end decorative structural components due to its advantages of high transmittance, low bubble content, and uniform and stable material. However, with the continuous upgrading of application scenarios, customers have increasingly high requirements for glass processing accuracy, appearance quality, and consistency, especially in the processing of thick glass and irregular structures such as 18mm thick K9 glass cylinders. Traditional processes often struggle to balance efficiency and quality.

Customer requirements:

The customer has put forward a clear requirement: to cut the 18mm thick K9 glass raw sheet into a regular cylindrical structure, requiring a flat cutting surface, no obvious chipping or cracks on the edges, while ensuring dimensional accuracy and batch consistency, and meeting the requirements for subsequent direct assembly or slight polishing before use. This type of product has a large thickness and materials that are hard and brittle. If traditional mechanical cutting tools are used for cutting, it is prone to micro cracks, internal stress concentration, low yield rate of finished products, and high rework costs.

Solution:

Chuangkeda's "Infrared Picosecond Laser Glass Cutting Integrated Machine" achieves non-contact, low thermal impact, and edge free cutting with a high-energy density picosecond laser source, intelligent visual positioning system, and high-precision motion platform. During the cutting process, laser energy is evenly applied to the inside of the glass, forming a clean cross-section through the principle of cold cracking. The entire cutting edge can be directly assembled and used without the need for secondary polishing. For complex irregular paths, the intelligent control system of the equipment can operate accurately according to CAD drawings, ensuring that every arc and angle matches the design perfectly. The cutting accuracy of the equipment is as high as ± 0.01mm, with excellent verticality of the incision and a broken edge of ≤ 5 μ m; Supports cutting of any shape, whether circular, square, curved, or irregular contours, all can be completed in one go. At the same time, the automated processing platform equipped can achieve synchronous cutting of multiple pieces of glass, significantly improving production efficiency and providing high-quality and high-efficiency solutions for high-end glass precision processing.

Processing effect: The glass cylinder has a neat cross-section and smooth edges, with high overall consistency in appearance. The verticality and flatness of the cutting surface are stable, and the dimensions are precise. It can directly enter the subsequent process without the need for secondary polishing or finishing treatment, and the yield rate is ≥ 99%.
